I Drove Through my Garage Door

One of the things that I have noticed since I became a parent is that I am always so busy and I get easily distracted. You see, between having to remember everything that I need to bring (like the diaper bag, stroller and a change of clothes for the kids) and my children wanting my attention every few minutes, I sometimes get a bit overwhelmed. But nothing really prepared me for what happened to me today when I drove through the garage door.

It was just another normal day and I had taken the kids out to the park to play. Since the park is about eight blocks from our home, I decided to pack everyone up in the minivan, and so we went. But after an hour or so, the kids where complaining about being hungry, so I packed them back up into the vehicle and we headed home. Even though things were certainly busy, the day was going fine and I was happy.

But when we got home, things took a turn for the worse. I had been singing songs with the kids on the ride home, so when we got into our driveway, I went to use the garage door opener, but it didn’t work. I quickly remembered that we were having a company that specialized in garage door opener repair in Anaheim coming over on Thursday next week to fix our door, so I hopped out of the van to go open the door by hand.

But I forgot to put the van in park.

Just as I was going to go into the garage, I watched my minivan crash into the garage door. Sure, it wasn’t going fast, but it was just enough for it to plow through the door and get stuck. Now, I am looking having to get the garage door fixed as well. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but I am so embarrassed. Who would have thought that I would ever drive through my own garage door?
